Casio Showcases Expanded “Lamp-Free” Projection Portfolio at InfoComm 2011

New Family of Projectors Builds on Successful LASER & LED HYBRID Light Source Technology To Address Market Needs

ORLANDO, Fla., June 15, 2011 — In the ever-changing world of digital projection technology, professionals are seeking solutions that drive efficiency, lower costs and streamline workflow. Building on Casio’s revolutionary SLIM product line, which represents the world’s first mercury lamp-free high-brightness data projectors, Casio today introduced a new portfolio of innovative projector products which include enhanced connectivity, improved audio, higher brightness levels and new 3D capabilities. Casio will showcase these new models during InfoComm 2011, at the Orange County Convention Center, Booth #3459.

By offering a comprehensive portfolio of new projector features, Casio is delivering solutions tailored to a variety of markets including Pro AV, education, mobile business presenters and gamers. All of the new models are built using state-of-the-art LASER & LED HYBRID Light Source technology which continues to provide lamp-free, eco-friendly data projection at a fraction of the cost of traditional projectors. By eliminating the use of mercury lamps, Casio’s LASER & LED HYBRID Light Source allows consumers to streamline costs and count on a 20,000 hour estimated life. The average user will save $800 after 6,000 hours of use compared to traditional mercury lamps.

Casio’s LASER & LED HYBRID Light Source combines blue laser light and a fluorescent element to generate a high output of green light. The green light, blue laser light, and the light emitted by a red LED are projected through a DLP® chip which, in turn, is passed through the projection lens to form an image. This light source technology achieves an increase in color spectrum compared with a mercury lamp, while lowering a projector’s total cost of ownership and maximizing their investment.

“Since the introduction of our LASER & LED HYBRID Light Source, we spoke with market professionals to understand their challenges and identify areas where they still needed assistance,” said Frank Romeo, vice president of Casio’s Business Projector Division. “While we are extremely proud of the success around our SLIM line, we knew that we could continue to build on the technology, understanding that different industries face different challenges. Our new family of projectors is built with those needs in mind and will deliver tailored solutions to increase efficiency and streamline costs, further positioning Casio as a leading provider of digital projection technology.”

Education

The new Short Throw projectors are equipped with an efficient and engaging set of features that illuminate any classroom and aid in the creation of dynamic lesson and lectures. The Short Throw series has a 0.68 throw ratio lens that allows a 60″ image to be projected from less than three feet from the screen, enabling an image to be displayed in any size classroom.

Casio’s Short Throw projectors can also display 3D content from a 3D capable computer and with the optional 2D-3D conversion software users can convert and view 2D material, bringing lessons and lectures to life. Bringing classroom participation to new heights, the Interactive Whiteboard function enables users to turn any screen or surface into an interactive workspace, ensuring that every student will want to be a part of the lesson. The optional pen and software allow teachers to write and annotate on the screen or switch to “mouse” mode and control the PC, a perfect tool to incorporate into math and science lessons.

Pro AV

The Pro AV market will benefit from the overall expanded portfolio of projectors that address a number of needs. The Pro series of projectors offers an increased brightness up to 3,500 lumens, which is the highest brightness among all Casio projectors.

In addition to a network connection via wireless and wired LAN capabilities, the Pro series also possesses enhanced audio features such as a large output speaker. The Pro series will produce enhanced projection in any environment due to its design and cooling efficiency through the Intelligent Brightness Control, an ECO function which conserves power while illuminating sharp imagery, automatically adjusting the brightness to suit the environmental lighting conditions of any room.

From the biggest theaters to the smallest rooms, Casio understands the need to communicate effectively. Therefore, Casio has increased audio power to 10 watts for the Pro AV line to ensure that sounds travel in every type of setting. They are also fitted with an RGB-Out port, multiple audio inputs and an audio output for connection to a separate audio system.

Mobile Presenters and Gamers

In addition to the SLIM line, gamers and mobile presenters will continue to benefit from Casio’s new Signature series of projectors, which provides a variety of enhancements. The Signature series features models which are 8.6 pounds, ensuring easy portability and travel. Additionally, the feature set includes a lower noise level which allows users to focus on presentation delivery and MobiShow®*. MobiShow makes business presentations easy for professionals who use wireless devices like smart phones or other mobile devices equipped with wireless LAN capabilities. Users can also access presentations from a thumb drive without the need for a PC via the USB 2.0 function available in select models.

“Casio not only prides itself with product development, but with its overall commitment to the industry,” said Matt Mustachio, general manager of Casio’s Business Projector Division. “Casio has significantly improved its supplier/dealer relationships and also added two sales directors, devoted to working the dealer network to advise, educate and establish more dealers throughout the country. This is only the beginning; Casio will continue to introduce new technologies and features that improve presentations.”

Casio’s new family of projectors features and functionality are tailored to the end user. Whether it is high brightness up to 3,500 lumens, improved connectivity, MobiShow, or a Pro AV unit with 3D capabilities, Interactive Whiteboard function and improved connectivity – Casio offers a comprehensive set of solutions for everyone, anywhere.
